Overview

Raphael Weilguni (*1989 in Augsburg, Germany) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich until 2017, where he was a student of Jean-Marc Bustamante and Florian Pumhösl. Weilguni's sculptures are characterized by their distinctive organic quality; despite the use of ceramics, they seem flexible, as if they were in constant motion, as if they were still malleable. With their fluid movement and pronounced labyrinthine quality, his abstract and wild sculptures invite the viewer to explore their ever-changing nuances and contrasts of light, to sense the direction of their movements, and to discover their multiple angles. Their abstract forms offer endless possibilities for association. Incisions, fingerprints and random brushstrokes emphasize their dynamic character. The artist's hand can be perceived in each of his sculptures.

Raphael Weilguni's works can be found in many renowned private collections, but also in public collections such as the Munich Re Collection or the The Federal Collection of Contemporary Art Germany, Bonn.
